I note with amusement that many "advice givers" on the Forum have not taken either the "basic" or "elite" knowledge tests offered by Jeremy here on 123notary.com. While it's easy to bluff, especially in bold letters to the newbies; it's quite a different matter to submit to standardized testing. I know, those tests are rough, and they do separate the windbags from the knowledgeable.

On a related note; one can tell quite a lot about the "skill set" of an individual from their web site. Of course this is only true if they wrote the content themselves; and assumes that there is "content" - not just a marketing vehicle for "whatever they can hawk". IMHO a great site conveys useful information to the public; and collaterally showcases the disposition, temperament and attitude of the notary.

The web site can demonstrate the willingness of the notary to share information; of course without giving the "dreaded" "legal advice".

Some notaries, for reasons I can't fathom; wax eloquently "about" their web site - but fail to disclose the URL; so others can judge for themselves. I'm one for "full disclosure"; members of this Forum as well as the general public have a (IMHO) right to know "who's behind the words".

I use the information in the web site to look up the general listing, by zip code, of the poster - in the home page search section. It is there that I can see if they passed either of the rigorous 123notary.com exams. That helps me determine if they "know their stuff".
