I received an email from them earlier today about doing a Debt Elimination Retainer (their client being an attorney). Pay rate offered was fair, so I accepted the assignment. Their emailed instructions were a bit excessive. And they asked for my mailing address twice "so we can mail your payment" even though it will be on my invoice & they don't actually need it until the assignment is completed.
As I looked for info about them online, I saw that their own website did not list THEIR address AND the email they sent did not include one. This is a bit of a red flag for me, as there is no way to pursue them for collections, if necessary, without knowing where they actually are. Also, it makes positively identifying the firm harder, as there may be multiple companies with the same or similar names scattered across the country.
I asked them for their actual mailing address; first time, they replied with an email address of where to send my invoice after the job is done. 2nd time, no response. If I don't hear back from them by Monday (this being Friday & the assignment being next Thursday), I will send them an emailed nudge, then, if no further response, email them that I am canceling my participation in it.
Why would anyone in business NOT have their physical address on their website? You can rent a private mail box for not much money if you don't have an office away from your home & are reluctant to give your home address. Heck, I would accept a PO Box -- just not an email address which tells me nothing about where you actually are.
I don't even know if they are the same firm as this -- just have the same name.

I say thumbs up for this SS. I did a few jobs for them, and they pay within 30 days.

Been asked to do a signing for XP. They were offering $30 for a 40+ page signing and 35+ miles of travel. I countered for $50 and haven't heard back from them. |

I did one small job for XP last month. For the assignment, Peggy was fair about the compensation. I hope she calls again.
