An update ... received a call from VP and told that they would honor their contact for canceled closing and pay me for the closing. Would be interested to know if anyone else runs into the $100 rule. thanks. Drop me an email if you run into this because I was told that this was not the policy. Thanks They get a point for the call and the offer to honor their commitment.

They have lowered their fee to $100 with edocs? Wow, this is one company that demands absolute perfection from the notary plus a lot of extra work, such as requiring every page to be initialed that is not signed by the borrower, regardless if there are initial lines or not. Also, every signature is to be dated whether it asks for date or not. I think they may have relaxed the initialing requirement, however you must sign a service level agreement with them and they do rate you as to how well you performed your job on every closing. With the handholding, perfection and PITA factor, I set my minimum fee with them at $150. There is absolutely no way I would do their jobs for $100.

Thanks for the info - will keep my eyes and ears open. I like working for them - always met my fee, paid quickly, no handholding, etc etc...
But my fees are what they are for a reason - and when some travel requires 80-100 miles rt, $100 doesn't cut it.
No, I've not heard from them about reducing my fees - hope it doesn't come to that...
Thanks again!!

While in the past, this company has been great to work for, recently they have "changed" the way they do business. All closings with edocs pay $100, regardless of the distance traveled or you go through a two day approval process.
My recent experience has been that after a week long commitment on a closing with increased fee, they called about another closing within ten miles. I quoted my rate and we went through the two day thing ... received documents for closing one, then received a call stating that the closing was cancelled and if I would not reduce my fee then ... when I asked if the closing was cancelled or they found someone cheaper, she stated that they found someone cheaper. The child then stated that they would use me again, however, if I would consent to reduce my fees across the board.
I asked that she not call me again and told her that they "Equity National Title" were removed from my approved list. She became quite argumenative and said I was being unreasonable. Blah, Blah, Blah.
It is either the beginning of the end for them or ... they are trying to strong arm us into accepting closings at a reduced rate or else. I'd be very careful |
