I was contacted by a company to do a reverse mortgage at noon the next day. I arrive shortly before the expected time. I rang the doorbell and no one answered. I looked in the windows and doors and the house was trashed in every room. My first thought was someone was dead inside. I called the company that hired me and they explained he had an emergency and would be there in 45 minutes. I said I would wait. Exactly 45 minutes later he came flying into his driveway and pulls into his garage and I got out of my car and approached him. He invited me in and set off his alarm system twice. I followed him through a narrow path to his dining room. The dining room table was cluttered. He then announced he had to go downtown and pickup his prescriptions. He told me to wait in my car he would be right back. He left and five minutes later he came back and said he was going to pick up his prescriptions. A half hour passed and he came back. Again he triggered his alarm. Back to the dining room table. I sat down and took out the pages for him to look at. He said he needed to get a drink to take his medicine. I said there is a bottle of water on the table right where he was standing. He said he wanted something else to drink. During all this I called the title company and kept them updated. He finally sat down at the table and looked at the HUD. He didn’t agree with it. I suggested he call his loan officer, which he did. A half hour later, I left with two sets of unsigned documents. He told me he was an attorney. You can’t make this stuff up.
