Does anyone know if they go by another name such as signing services.com?
I don't care how much you need the money - is this nightmare worth it? The additional, nonsense work you put into this one signing has sucked up what little profit there may have been and you're now out of pocket and using your own money to do their job....think about that...

I just did a signing for Nations Direct yesterday and it was a royal mess. Docs arrived so late I had to re-schedule for 4 hours later. The borrower's address was wrong, not only on all of the docs , but on the order confirmation, leaving me driving in circles. They called me on the phone to unnecessarily hand-hold so often, I'd have to put one on hold to answer the other's call, but I could never get them on the phone when I called without waiting on hold forever. Since I had to take a ferry to get to the signing location, I fortunately priced the job higher than usual, so the 5 hours it took to get this thing done (not counting the lost 4 hours from re-scheduling), didn't hurt me as much as it could have. Also, they didn't include the UPS label in the e-doc package and only e-mailed it after receiving my signing confirmation, requiring me to return to my office to print before back-tracking to the UPS drop box. I'll charge them even more next time! PS - It was a Quicken Loan. |

<<<<try breaking down the fee: e.g. $75 signing, $25 edocs/printing, $25 travel (this will take care of me going home to do the faxing). It works for me with some it seems they have a max amt for the signing, but can add on additional charges. CG in MS 12211>>>>
ssnowbirdy: You missed quite a few other expenses the signing agent incurs when completing a loan signing: gasoline, mileage (wear & tear on vehicle), paper, toner, binder clips, pens, etc., insurance (auto & E and O), wear and tear home office equipment, marketing expenses (website, business cards, notary directory memberships) and TAXES.
The average loan signing - from printing and prepping docs to traveling to borrowers, completing the signing, notarizing, shipping the docs, invoicing - takes approximately 3 hours. Two thirds of the cost of a signing is overhead and one third is profit. In other words, of the $75, only $25 is profit. Divide the $25 by 3 (hours) and you net about $8.33 per hour - BEFORE taxes.
Not sure how you could possibly think $75 for a signing fee would work.

It is crazy to ask for jobs here to be done for $40 to $60! Usually involve excess travel. They finally asked me to do one in town for this week,$40. I made the mistake of saying I'd never do one for less than $75. Next thing I see the assignment is in my email and they're hounding me to confirm it? I don't even know if I have an ID and PW for their site it's been so long since I worked for them. Guessing from everyone's comments about package size and fax backs I will regret it.

I've worked for Nations Direct the last 3 years.......I receive my pay weekly and they are faithful in not being late or missing paydays. I know they pay less than anyone else I've worked. ($60) for Refi's, HELOC, reverse mortgages or modification; and ($80)for electronic signings. If they can find another Notary who will accept the job for less pay they will choose them over me.........they are incredible people to work with and they have always done what is right by me. I'm hoping they will begin paying what is "ONLY REASONABLE" to notaries who take pride in every siging they do. I get paid $100 - $125 from other companies I work for. Bones

Nations Direct is OK. They pay on time. They don't want to pay a lot. Usually they pay $40-60. If you dicker with them they will pay more for travel for a.30-60min. Especially if they can't get anyone else. I did a lot of business with them the end of last year, & begining of this year. Now they stoped calling. Probably because I usually ask for $60-100. They do ask for a lot of FAX backs. I had no trouble with them.

IMPOSSIBLE
It's a word that I rarely use. Few situations really qualify for that term, with great thought and effort; many things ARE possible.
However
It's impossible to get Nations Direct to stop calling me. I have tried. So now, as often stated elsewhere, upon hearing their name, I say, "AGAIN", "please never call me" - and push the red button.

They wanted me to do a closing for them for $70 to include 150 pages of faxbacks. When I asked Erica, "Does anyone over at Nations feel your fees are ridiculously low for what is expected? It will cost me more than that to do the printing, traveling, faxing," She actually said, "Yes, that is why we try to get you (Notaries) to agree to the signing without telling them how many pages are actulally in the package." These are her exact words - I promised. I just faxed them and old them to remove my name permanently from thier list of Notaries. If Notaries refuse to work for such low fees then Nations will have to pay decent fees for work. Some one over at Nations told me, "We pay attornies $90 to do closings, not notaries." I don't think so. I know attornies in this area are much more expensive than that. |
