He just called me - almost the same conversation verbatim - when he asked if I wanted to earn an extra $1,000 per signing that lil voice in the back of my head said "I've heard this before" so my immediate response was "I'm not interested in this" and the conversation ended...

Will give him credit in that he wasn't pushy -

But...Kevin Byrd, since you're a member here I'm sure you read the boards....I do want you to realize that what you propose is very unethical and if you do this at your signings I hope the companies that hire you read this....

Agree with Linda. Providing a contact name and telephone number of someone soliciting any other business from the borrower is likely to reap a negative reaction from the company that hired you.

Not sure how legit this is (I've not gotten this call and don't wish to) but I can assure you that if anyone does this and their hiring party finds out about it they will NOT be happy. Companies frown upon the promotion of a private agenda at the signing table, for very obvious reasons.

Has anyone had a phone call from this person? He asks if you are still notarizeing loan documents? When you say yes, then he wants to know if you are doing okay or if it is slow. Then he asks if you would like to make an extra $1000 on each signing. When you ask how that is possible, he will tell you that when at a signing and all the doc's are all signed, you ask the signer if they would like to pay off the loan in half the time. When the signer "yes" you give them the phone # and/or email address of Kevin Byrd. Sounds to me like this is a scam.. The phone number is listed in Stockton California at the location of the old downtown Post Office.
