Still no payment from Teriel Closing Solutions after calling and emailing regarding outstanding invoice since 2011. I then reported them to the BBB. Still no check received from Teriel. Chase Bank hired First American Title whom then hired Teriel Closing Solutions. I plan on calling them tomorrow to inform them of Teriel Closing Solutions lack of integrity. You don't want to work for them. |

I have been trying to collect on my outstanding invoice with Teriel Closing Solutions, Denver, CO also. I have made at least 10 attempts to contact them and no one has bothered to first, mail my payment, secondly reply to calls or emails nor call me back. I am very frustrated. This invoice is a year old now. I am so glad to have read your blog for you gave me tips in contacting the loan officer and title company. Thank you! Plus I will also look up on the Forum before doing a signing for a company that I'm not familar with. Thanks again. Debbie

STAY FAR AWAY! I performed a job for Teriel last August and it took contacting the LO and Title to finally get my check. ( I finally did get it, a whopping 6 months later). The title officer called me and was mortified and said they would not be using Teriel any longer. I am not in the habit of putting companies out of business but their reputation is awful. The notary is the last to get paid and using funds to pay other notaries first is a common practice. Having to wait up to 60 days is ridiculous and is also common practice. The notary is the crucial last link, has to be 100% accurate, and is considered expendable. I really value my job and just want the same courtesy shown to me. Teriel, SOX, Final Link (to name a few) and all the other lowball, insulting signing companies show the opposite. When I get a call from an unfamiliar signing co and have the time to check I refer to my forums now. This has saved me a lot of headaches. I have actually contacted signing co.’s with bad ratings and cancelled (in plenty of time for them to reassign the appointment) after having read about their unscrupulous reputations on the forums. Please value yourselves enough to put your foot down and refuse jobs from companies with anything less than a good reputation…it affects us all! Good luck and I hope this is helpful.

I don't contact the BBB at all - that's a quote from Lone Notary - but reporting to the BBB doesn't work down here - they don't do anything so I'd probably leave out any reference to the BBB.
As for the other parties involved, on a net 30 invoice I usually contact title when the invoice approaches 60 days out..

"If payment is not received by the agreed date, I WILL NOT CONTACT YOU. Non-payment by that date will generate a report to Title, Lender and the Better Business Bureau."
Thank you Lone Notary and count me in! I'm including it on all my invoices from now on. I'll also add that I do my work for them 'in a timely manner and expect to be paid in like manner'. I've also decided to add another item onto my invoice, Payment Due Date, so there's no question of what that date is.
Linda, at what point do you actually start to contact the BBB, etc? If a 30 day payout, do you give them a few days for the check to arrive in your mailbox? If so, how many?
I now have 2 outstanding, Inky Closings in Albany IN and Justice Title and Escrow in Fairfax VA. Each is 14 days overdue and I filed BBB reports on them today, thinking enough is enough. Maybe if more of us take this stance, they'll get the message. |

I had several invoices from June of 2011 for Teriel closings. I tried every threat possible to all of the email addresses and phone #s on their website. Then I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and to the CO. Attorney General's office. I got a check within 4 days. I don't know which worked, but, I won't fool around with threats again. I will tell the Company that I will contact these agencies within a few days, then I'll do it. This has worked for another Notary friend of mine with another company. They need to be held accountable.

I did a signing for Teriel on June 1, 2011. Scott Gereaux, must be the owner, operations manager, coordinator, document assigner, accountant, mobile notary, at least 16 hats! He said they customarily pay 15 days out. Sounds good! Well, I have called, e-mailed, I called AGAIN (always 'out of the office'). This time I said, "I hope you are not out of business!" and concluded with, "If I don't hear from you or receive payment by... I will be obliged to report to Title, Lender, and Borrower." What frosts me about these signing agencies? THREATS in their Confirmations/Terms/Agreements, i.e., "Failure to do this, failure to do that, an error here, an error there, may/will/can result in forfeit/$25 reduction/loss of payment, and other words to this effect. I feel inclined to give them this forewarning when taking an assignment AND add the THREAT to my invoice: "If payment is not received by the agreed date, I WILL NOT CONTACT YOU. Non-payment by that date will generate a report to Title, Lender and the Better Business Bureau." We can't hold the THREAT of non-payment over their stinking heads, but, I have found this very effective when I have had to use it. Sorry for ranting on...

I did several signings for these people in Oct & Nov, 2010 and have never been paid. I sent them several emails and made several phone calls but no payment. They requested a list of the signings which I provided for them but never got paid. They are bad business.

I worked for Teriel once in Nov 2010. Nearing the 30 day mark I received an email request for my mailing address which I did respond to the email by sending my address, however if they had looked on the invoice I provided upon completion of the job they would have found that they already had my address. Check arrived right around the 30 day mark, however it was $25 short! I emailed them and they immediately responded with an apology. A $25 check was received immediately afterward. My experience would indicated that they are a bit disorganized, but I did receive full payment at around 30 days.

Paid 60 days after signing. I have put them on my no-no list, not so much for their 30 day late, but because of their nonresponse to my payment inquiries. |

Signing 3/4/11. Payment status requests ignored, by "Operations Manager," "Accounting Manager," and "Closing Coordinator" (who hired me).
Will update post when paid. |
