Line 1106 (HUD-1) for Notary Fees is often higher than what a signing agent is compensated for varied reasons. There are often other documents that must be notarized that is not included in the package the borrower signs. (Deeds of Trust usually have an additional notarization required post closing, when the loan terminates or the loan is sold on the secondary market.) It may also include the ancillary fees associated with obtaining and compensating a Notary Public.
I wouldn't concern myself over what is presented on the HUD, only with your invoiced fee.

Luciana: This does sometimes happen. Usually the title company adds other fees under notary such as fed exp/ups costs. Sometimes it is exactly what you charge. On occasion, you will find it lower than what you charge. When it has been lower, I have not had any troubles collecting my full agreed upon fee but I make sure my confirmation reflects the correct fee.

Good morning, everyone and I hope that your day is goind well.
I'm wondering if someone would mind helping me with a question I have, please. I am a fairly new Signing Agent and had an assignment yesterday. When I received the call from the Title Co., I was asked and gave my fee. However, when I recieved the loan documents, I noticed that the Notary Fee listed was mor than twice what I quoted. What should I do about this? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |
