Yes Diana, (and 123notary family)
Being a newer notary was thinking "oh might do one a week" well already have 2 weeks in January booked with 5 days in the first week and 3 in the second. VERY Suprized how much notary business being used in the North Texas Area.

My loan signing business has picked up the last few months. Unfortunately, the pay has not followed suit.

I agree with Lisa T who posted on Aug 21...and others.
Set priorities. Get good exposure. Do excellent service and accurate work. Build a clientele. Say no as little as possible...perhaps with both of you doing the work, you won't have to say no.
Good luck. I've been doing this for 5 years. I could stay busy enough to call this a full time job. Sometimes I wish I had an alternate to send. The most I have signed in one day is 4, and that is a lot of travel and paperwork. The work is out there! Good luck.

He said he works with his wife. She (Ruby) is listed as a P#8. Perhaps he should have his own listing as well, but maybe they view that as a long range additional expense. Maybe upgrading just hers would help, but there appears to be a lot of competition for them in Charlotte. |

<<<Don't be busy! Don't have a birthday party to go to. Just say, "Yes" to any request you get and thats the best way to accumulate regulars. You can't be at the top of anyone's list by saying "no" all the time.>>>
Here's a different perspective: I think a good balance and a way to control your schedule while still being able to have a business and a life is to put all day to day activities as an appointment (i.e. errands, dental, dinner and a movie, day at the zoo, car needs a service check, etc.), and when you get a call, check your schedule to see if the signing appt would be more important than what's already planned.
If the SS/TC scheduler is offering a loan signing at 5pm and you have a 5pm appt personal activites, offer options, "Are the borrowers flexible? I'm available at 3pm or 7pm (or whatever)" but don't drop important once-in-a-lifetime family events that you will never be able to recapture - like a child's recital or awards ceremony. I regret missing a friend's 50th birthday celebration to attend a marketing seminar that I thought was so darn important. My husband had to work so he couldn't go, but I could have gone to the party and skipped the seminar. Our friend will never turn 50 again.
I know we all need the work and have to eat but take stock of what is most important. |

The trick in the notary business is to accumulate regular customers. That is where the money is. Websites get your name out there. The rest is up to making relationships with companies and individuals. Do good service, keep in touch with the job providers, and be available. The worst mistake notaries make is to not answer their phone or to be "busy". Don't be busy! Don't have a birthday party to go to. Just say, "Yes" to any request you get and thats the best way to accumulate regulars. You can't be at the top of anyone's list by saying "no" all the time.

Unfortunately, the success of your business and the amount of business you get is going to depend on more than just getting a listing here. A well-composed profile will be your first chance to say "pick me, pick me"...
Besides listing here, and possibly on other forums or websites, you need to do some footwork. Contact companies and ask how to get included on the list of approved signing agents. Sign up with as many companies as you can after researching them - make sure you check them out too so you sign up with the companies that respect the notary and pay the notary. Use the list here on 123 for a basis and start getting your name out there to as many of them as you feel are a fair risk to take work from.
Good Luck

Hello again and thanks for responding to my post. My wife and I are doing this together. Her name is Ruby Vaught and our company's name is Queen City Mobile Notary Service but we are listed on here simply as Ruby Vaught. We are located in the South Charlotte Area but we are willing to travel just about anywhere within reason.

Iman, for whatever reason, your name does not show up as a notary near Charlotte, NC when performing a search through the 123 list. When you do a search here, does your name or a company you work for show up?
If you expect to get work, it is important to get your name in front of people as a part of your marketing plan. As there are over 40 notaries listed in the Charlotte area, you'll need to find a way distinguish yourself and appear to be a better alternative than your competition, just as when being hired to perform any work assignment. |

I just signed up earlier this week. I am in the Charlotte North Carolina area. I have a standard listing on here. When do you guys think I will start getting some business?
