I did give up on the HP. I purchase a small Brother 575 (I think that's the model.) It was on sale at Staples for just $30. It's a lot faster than the HP 3-in-1. I recently did a large fax mailer and it held up (although I'm starting to hear a squeak here and there). Nex time I have some extra cash I may purchase the output paper tray. This does not scan - only fax and copy.

I'm about to give up on the HP All in Ones. I use one for faxing and scanning. I'm looking at buying a Brother MFC7220. Why? My business is growing and the tray on my HP is shallow. Sometimes I have to split my stack of documents. Secondly, the FedEx Kinkos where I go to ship docs uses the Brother machine and it seems to be a work horse. Man it's fast! It is rare that I see one of the machines out of order. And..it's a laser machine, too. I am waiting for prices to drop a little more before I buy.

Carefully, use a lint-free cloth that has been dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Let the roller get damp with the alcohol before gently rubbing it dry. That should remove any built up paper dust and substrates from the paper.

A scanner is a good alternative. Many are available with an auto document feeder and most encode data as a PDF. However, it is still a good idea to check on the result before e-mailing as an occasional page may have been double fed. Maintenance helps prevent problems on these machines as well. |

I have been using an HP 3330 for years. (Muti-function: print, scan, fax)
If you're having problems with the automatic document feeder picking up the pages, it may be that the pickup rollers need cleaning. They do get smooth and shiny over time. Also clean the paper path.
You can get standard fax machines (does nothing else) for less than $100 online and at most office supply stores.

Anyone have a great fax machine they would be willing to recommend?
I am sooo frustrated with my fax machine not cooperating with sending multiple page faxes! I have an HP L7680 that I bought directly from HP and exactly one year after purchse (end of warranty!) it will no longer feed more than single pages faxes. I have to force feed each page which invloved standing next to my fax machine through 20- 40 page fax backs! Arg! I am going to go crazy if I have to keep doing this! What are you folks using for fax machines? While we're on the topic, does anyone have a favorite laser printer?
Thanks for your advice!
