Be careful about how frequently a site is reputed to be. For example, the forum on notaryrotary is very popular. Discerning which hits are from the forum and which are from the directory is hard to do. You can not judge a site purely on hit count or unique visitor count. You can only judge based on what the people advertising on the site say collectively.

Hello,

One of our members referred your comment to me since I manage GoGetNotary, so I thought I would respond. The top 4 directories on that list are the busiest which may increase the odds of assignments but doesn't guarantee it. In the last two years, I've learned there's a lot of luck involved. One notary will say she never gets anything from NNA's SigningAgent.com and yet one of our Featured Notaries said he got several jobs within 24 hours of joining them. Or they'll say they get nothing from NotRot and steady calls from GoMobile and the next notaries will tell me just the opposite. One of our members says he got his last 4 jobs from us and then I'll get an email from someone saying no one has called them yet. (I review their page to see if we can punch it up but that isn't always the problem.) I wish there was a pattern. Certainly 123Notary has done a great job with getting quality traffic by developing relationships with title, mortgage and signing companies, and I never hear anyone complain about this site.

My suggestion is to think of "more needles in the Internet haystack" and post to as many places as you can. The free ones on our list are a no-brainer. They take only your time not your money. From there determine what you can afford and post to the ones who have higher Google Page Rank and lower Alexa ratings. Forget their claims and go by Google and Alexa. If a directory has a Page Rank of 2 or less and Alexa rating of 1 million or more, they're not getting much traffic--of course, that doesn't mean you won't get business the first day you join them! Don't skip the generic directories like SuperPages, Google, Yahoo, LenderUniverse. They're busy and free!

Always ask your customers how they found you. Many times they can't be more specific than "on the Internet" which isn't much help. But if someone names a specific directory, you'll know you've spent your money wisely and you can renew your membership when the time comes.

By the way, isn't it nice that 123 lets you discuss other directories on their forum. I've spoken with 2 notaries who got kicked off of NotRot for that. Shows 123 understands you're going to sign up with more than one directory and isn't afraid of competition.

I found this website http://www.gogetnotary.com/go/notary-directory/ that lists the most frequently visited notary directories on the net. I don't know if this list implies that the directories on top of the list generates the most business for a notary. Does anyone know of any other measurements for notary directories? ... perhaps links to another website? Thanks
