Certified, or not, you can only charge what the market will bear. Don't sell your services for cheap either!

I get $300 per signing. Sometimes I give a discount.

I only do Reverse Mortgages and Mortgage Accelerator Heloc signings. Plus I do lots of regular notary work with no loans involved.

Regular refi loan work just doesn't pay decently anymore. I'll do them but only if the borrowers bring the docs to me and they have already read the package and all the terms are correct.

hello, I am very new I have completed 5 signings to date. I will have 6 after 6:30 today. I am not certified yet, I agree being certified will mostly put the company at ease and the customer. That's my reason for wanting to be certifed. and yes it will make for more offers also. I charge minimum of 75.00 depending which county, 125.00 for counties further out. I know it is not much. and I am not as experienced as others. But I believe the more you do the better you are I want to do at least 15 before I attempt certification.

Thank you, Sir. When it comes time to be background checked, then I will feel that I truly paid the ultimate price.

While I agree with you on this one Professor, I still do not believe in certification. Who truly is capable of certifying and what are the qualifications of one who certifies? Where does the certifier come from and what makes them able to do such? If you are knowledgeable and skilled, and experienced, I truly believe you do not need to be certified. I believe that you and only you are the one who is capable of knowing what your knowledge and abilities are and how you perform your duties as a witness. While certification and background checks are mandated with some companies, I still believe you can perform without it. You may not get as much work in the beginning but in the end, your companies learn what you can do and how you do it. They make the ultimate decision as to whether or not to utilize you.

While I have recently been certified with 123 notary in an effort to assist the website and stay in conformity with them, I still refuse to be certified with other companies. I flat out refuse a background check as I know I have impeccable character. It may slow things down a little bit for me but business is still booming so I must be doing something right (without certification or background checks).

Experience and not necessarily certification also plays a huge role in how many signings you get and what you are compensated. Today, many signing companies will only pay so much no matter how much experience you have or whether or not you are certified. While I strongly recommend that you get certified, I also agree that you do not need it with respect to how much you are compensated. (Just my opinion).

I have notaries who I trained and never qualified for certification still doing signings for me after one+ years for barely less than what I receive after ten years of signing. Some even receive more (Kudos to them!).

Please do not think less of a Signing Agent by lower casing us. We are all equal in that a Notary is a Notary no matter how they perform their notarial acts. You could not be a Signing Agent without being a Notary first.
