And I really feel good when the documents are sent to the notary by the signing/title company at 4:30 p.m. (their time) on Friday evening, and those personnel leave. Then it's pulling hen's teeth to find someone to get any errors straightened out so I can complete the job I was hired to do.
Fortunately I learned long ago to keep the borrower informed of how I fit into the picture. That has saved me a lot of aggravation because I let them know that sometimes the paperwork doesn't come in timely, that I have no idea what's in the package, or what numbers have been agreed to. That way, if I have to meet with them at a later time, or if the numbers aren't what they expected, they can try to reach their contact person before I make the trip.

Well put Carmen. When you have a high level of professionalism and are used as the scape goat it is challenging if you need to talk to the borrower again. If I make a mistake, I find it easy to admit. OOOPS my bad!

I agree Claudia. Some of the folks in this industry are just plain unprofessional and clueless. They like to use us as scape goats but they can make some terrible deal breaking mistakes with out our help.

Sometimes notaries make mistakes and then its their fault. Other times, lenders and signing companies make mistakes and then its their fault. Sometimes the borrowers are flakes. Fault should be assessed on a case by case basis.

I know and understand that there are notaries out there that do not do the job correctly. However, I am beginning to wonder if most of the time it is not a direct result of the signing company or lender's inconsiderate and unprofessional attitude toward the whole signing. Yesterday was such a fiasco as a result of the lender and the signing company. Did I get an apology for losing money yesterday because they could not get their act together, I lost apx. $200.00 on other signings I could have taken because they could not get it together. It just aggravates the hell out of me. Especially when they are to cheap to pay a decent price to begin with. Sorry just venting.
