Nancy - Sign up for the Signing Agent Coach's workshop asap. You will walk away completely confident like I did -- I have been a notary for ten years and still didn't have a clue until I participated in their (KEllY's) workshop. She's advertising it now - go to her site at www.loansigner101.com and if I got it wrong, she's all over the web. You won't regret it, KT in San Diego |

Hello Nancy, I asked a question just like this a while ago. Look under all my old posts and read what they had to say to me, it really helped me. I use the Modern Journal of Notarial Events, just what Carmen suggested to me back then. It saves me a lot of time. You can get it at notaryrotary.com. Hope this helps! |

Some of the new journals have a 1 line across feature with abbreviation for notary documents so each borrower's notary information in on one line.
This saves the notary mucho money for journals.
Some notaries don't like this type of journal because they feel if they are required to provide a photocopy journal entry they can't do it because its one person per 1 line.
You can accomplish the same procedure by putting paper over the notary documents that are not asked for; you just have to cut very small pieces of paper to accomplish this. Same thing as Jeremy said but a different journal.

The rule is that each row is for one signature on one doc. If two signers are signing one deed of trust, that is two rows already. To make it easy, just write the information of one signer first, and then write all their docs to be notarized in corresonding rows. You can use a descending vertical arrow to show that the signer's name and information is the same throughout all of those notarizations. Have signer #1 sign each signature section of each row and thumbprint if necessary after ID-ing him or her. Then repeat process with signer #2.
My way obeys all the laws, but is very time efficient and easy to query after the fact too. Make sure to indicate your fees too. You have to decide which fee you will condier a notary fee and which fee you will condier a travel fee which is odd since its a package dea. Thats up to you. |

What should I mark on my journal when I'll be signing for a refinance? Should I mark off many of the docs I will be notarizing in the same row? Or should I mark only one doc type on a different row of my journal? I know this may sound like a very dumb question, but I don't see any specific examples on my loan signing booklet.
Thanks for your help in advance. :)
