They immediately called and said that the closing was canceled. Sure it was. Any your check is in the mail.

I did a signing for Infinite Notaries out of Texas as well just about a month ago. It may be a bit early, but I have called several times and only get voice mails and no return call. I also have not received any responses to my e-mails.
KH
I received payment from Infinite Notaries today. Once I told them what I had read on this forum and that I was concerned, they were very responsive.
Thanks,

I think you guys are going to love this.
Earlier today I wrote this:
quote: Here's another one. On Friday, late afternoon I get a call from a guy who wants to talk to me about doing signings for them in my area. I was in a signing so I called him back. He said he has a signing for me on Tue. but wants to interview me for his database for future signings, so he did. I looked him up on NR and there were 4 or 5 people complaining about this guy. Most said very slow pay but there was one guy that spoke well of them and another who said she got paid. I looked him up and found what appeared to be a normal company. I'll do his closing ($125.00). I'll probably do another if he gives me one. I will not do more that two until he pays. The point is I tried to do my homework and we'll see what happens. It was: Alex Goodman Vendor Supervisor American Freedom Assurance, Inc. 1205 Westlakes Drive Suite 250 Berwyn, PA 19312 Phone (610) 640-2060 Fax (610) 640-2041
Earlier this afternoon I got an email with some of the Title docs and as I looked at them I realized there was a doc that asked the borrower to sign understanding that the remote signing fee would be 325.00
I was to be paid 125.00. So I immediately realized that this Title Co. is padding their closing fee by two hundred dollars more. Now I’m about to state the obvious, but for those of you who don’t get. The only reason a Title Company would do that is to create the perception that they are charging $200 dollars less for their services. In this competitive market it makes them look more competitive. And they are doing it at the expense of my service. THAT SUCKS!!!
Believe it, or not. I called the Title Company and got the Processor on the phone and I literally asked him to his face. Am I to understand that you are doing this basically to pad your fee to make yourselves an extra $200 and kinda hiding it? To my amazement he answered YES! That’s exactly what we’re doing. That’s how we’ve always done it. I told him that I knew he was busy and that I would let him go and that I would call the guy who hired me. And I did. He was or is home sick so I got the Title Mgr. and I told her I wouldn’t do the job. I told her that between the neg. remarks on NR and now this. I just didn’t feel comfortable working for a Company that tries to hide their fees and make it look like someone else was making it. I told her that I have a moral problem with that. Now don’t get me wrong I still know it’s all about the sale (how can we forget that little diatribe) but this was pure, outright dishonesty from what is supposed to be a legal entity and it was kinda like they were doing it at my expense (although I don’t think it would have effected me in any adverse manner, it still sucked). And lastly, I thought that if they could do that to the lender and borrower + people talking about no pay and slow pay and having to fight for their money, I blew them off.
I don’t now really if I bit off my nose to spite my face. I hate to lose the money. But, it’s done.

Alex, this one was just too funny. Laughing out loud. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. Very, very funny stuff here. |

Well, I have to say I am somewhat annoyed that you have chosen to use these boards as a platform for your (Obi Wan Kenobi) style of communicating. Although your advise is sound but somewhat simplistic and superficial, it smacks of someone trying to write either a book (or closer) a pamphlet. I realize I am coming across as adversarial, but upon reading all (and I read all) of your postings, I find that you are more interested in expressing your little cherubs of wisdom than addressing the original posters concern or notification. Choosing to post these pearls in response to every other posting over the last few days seems odd and I find myself wondering if perhaps you may have another agenda other than your zen like retorts. I noticed you end each verse with Always Hiring! Are you a Signing Agency looking to enhance your data base? If so, I don't believe this forum is appropriate for that endeavor.
Whatever the case may be I'm sorry if this response may have offended you but I had an opinion and like are opinions, sometimes I am as well. But I couldn't help myself.
Dear Radon:
Your perceptions are noted. Thank you for sharing them.
In an earlier post that I made today, I gave a website with information regarding the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Among many quotes in that article is the following:
"Self-Centeredness: Perhaps the most common centre today is the self. The most obvious form is selfishness, which violates the values of most people. But if we look closely at many of the popular approaches to growth and self-fulfillment, we often find self-centering at their core. There is little security, guidance, wisdom or power in the limited centre of self. Like the Dead Sea in Palestine, it accepts but never gives. It becomes stagnant. On the other hand, paying attention to the development of self in the greater perspective of improving one's ability to serve, to produce, to contribute in meaningful ways, gives context for dramatic increase in the four life-support factors. It is often much easier to recognize the centre in someone else's life than to see it in your own."
EVERYONE on this board would benefit by defining their centers. Is yours a principle-centered life, an enemy-centered life, or do you have some other center. Knowing your center can provide you with useful insights and guide our behaviors productively rather than destructively.
I thank you for your contributions by your post.

Land America is a reputable company. Communication problems can occur with any company. They are a keeper!

To marciaday: I marketed over the years. I have been a signing agent for twelve years and would get the occasional call from Title. I also went online and looked up title companies. I would go into their websites and sign up if they had one. Basically, Title contacted me. When I reaped the benefits I went looking for more.

PLEASE do a search on a company when you receive a request for a signing. If you don't have an opportunity to check them out while on the phone with them take the job and then do the search here on 123notary.com and on Notary Rotary and if they have a bad reputation then you can do one of two things; one, inform them of their bad reputation and let them know that you are willing to give them a one shot try or second; call them back and also inform them of their bad reputation and give them their job back. This way you go into it with your eyes open.
I believe that all of us need to start to ask SS's for 3 notary references(and you need to check them) It is so odd to me that we have to supply all kids of personal information to them but we don't know them from a can of paint. We assume all of the risk and liability. They have made a few phone calls/sent a few emails. We need to turn the tide on this. It is not fair and I am feed up with it. People you MUST check a company out before you work for them.
You may work less but at least you won't be working for free or be out of any additional expenses.
Good Luck!

Hi Everyone! I’ve been a 123 member for a while and I finally took the time to join 123’s online forum and was pleased to discover the vast wealth of information here – I should have joined sooner! I'm still somewhat of a "newbie" signing agent with only about 75 signings under my belt so far, but I learned a lot about signing companies during my first 20 closings and I’d like to share some of the wisdom I’ve learned regarding the topic of non-payment:
I have a two-strike policy with signing companies: if they’re significantly late (i.e., two weeks late or more) TWO times according to their OWN payment policy, I drop them and add them to my deadbeat list. Everyone’s human and sometimes the payroll person makes an honest mistake, but it should never happen repeatedly. I have a one-strike policy with companies calling me for the first time. If they’re late on the first payment then they’ve started off on the wrong foot with me, and experience has taught me that payment trouble on the first signing means payment trouble in the future. I also call them personally to tell them that late payment is absolutely unacceptable and I inform them that they have been dropped from MY list of preferred signing companies. So far I’ve only had to do this with two companies. It doesn’t do much good in getting them to pay me, but I think it sends an important message that there are consequences for stiffing a signing agent. My philosophy is: I’m not late when I contact the borrowers to schedule the signing, I’m not late when I show up to the signing, and I’m not late dropping off the loan docs. There’s no reason you should be late paying me.
I’m not interested in a signing company’s sob stories about hard times in the current market or endless bureaucratic excuses about my payment being “held up” somewhere in their payroll process. It’s a waste of my time. I’m interested in being paid for my services. PERIOD.
On a happier note, the vast majority of signing companies I’ve worked (so far) have always been on-time with payment, they’re very pleasant, and I’m happy to work with them. What’s that saying about “a few bad apples…?”

You need to send them that letter that Carmen put on the Getting Paid Archives under "Help! I have not been paid" response. It took a little work, but you can save the letter to your docs and use it everytime you need to and just change the names, dates, etc. If you need any help with it, shoot me an email.

I just did a signing with Coversign last week. Thank you for sharing because now I will keep a close eye on the mail box for this check. They did say they pay out twice a month??
I have been doing signings for over a year now and have never not been paid. I have one invoice from 9-21-07 with LandAmerica Onestop Signing Service. Could this be my first? I have called twice, faxed two invoices with no reply. Anyone ever have a problem? |

You can add Coversign Corporation to the list of non-payers. No fax # to contact them, all calls, emails are ignored, just an answering line that says leave a message. Is this Maurice Coleman doing business under any other names? |

I haven't been paid from these companies. Would someone enlighten me? Land Options - Did signing on August 30, 2007 - they haven't paid yet and won't return my calls or emails.
XYZ - 2 outstanding invoices, one on Sept 25, 2007 and one on October 16, 2007. They had me email accountspayable@soxusa.net, but no response and no one will return my calls.
Fox Signing - did signing on Oct 13, 2007 - the also won't return my calls or emails.
I did read that these were slow to pay on the forum AFTER I had problems with trying to get my money from these 3 companies. Could you please let me know if any of you have had luck getting your money out of these companies? Thanks! Marcia
PS: My daughter who also does signings has had problems with LIA SIGNING. Does anyone else have trouble getting paid from them? |

Hi everyone,
I have three companies to add to the growing list of loan signing companies that don't pay. Here they are:
Angels on the run: The last signing I did for this company was June 2007, I was PROMISED by Maureen Rancour, the owner that I would be paid on time. As of the date of this posting, I have not been paid, I have received nothing but sob stories. I have turned her file over to my attorney for collection.
All State Notary: This company is based in Granada Hills, CA. I completed a signing for them this year, was paid. I was asked to do a signing for them in August 2007, I chaufered the loan officer Jeena to the title company to pick up the documents and then found out five minutes before we arrived at the borrower's home that the documents were to be notarized and BACKDATED which is strictly against the law. I told the loan officer that I would not comply since it was illegal and simply gave her a ride to the borrower's home. She found another notary to do this illegal task. I charged this company for transporting the loan officer. As of yet, I have not been paid for transporting the loan officer. The cell phone for this company is not in service.
Priority 1 Signing Service: located in Orange County, CA: I did a signing for this company in September and as of yet, I have not been paid. I have left phone messages, sent e mails, no response. I have given this file to my attorney for collection as well.
What I would like to know is why aren't the signing services paying us notaries for the valued services we provide in a timely manner. They get paid once the loan is funded. There is NO REASON why the notaries are not getting paid.
