As you try to get loan business, many SSs and TCs want your commission number. In WA, that is the same thing as your notary license number.

You can find your number on your paper commission certificate. It is in very tiny numbers at the bottom center of the sheet, under the border. The number stands alone - there is no indication as to what the number refers to.

If you aren't certain you found the right number on your certificate, you can find your number online. Go to https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/dolprod/bpdLicenseQuery/

Select Notaries for the license type.
Enter your name and other information.
Hit search.
You will see your notary license/commission number.

By the way -
If you don't have a state business license complete with UBI number, get one today or you could get into big trouble. The fee is cheap - usually $20 - depending on how many business names you register. Start here:
https://fortress.wa.gov/dol/mls/default.aspx

You can discover if you are also required to have a city or county license at
http://dol.wa.gov/business/citycounty.html
Those fees are very low, too.

Good luck!
Laura
