Shannon, It's a shame (for me) that you are in Calif. If I had a loan package I sure would want you or your wife to process docs for me. Looking for a great notary is a lot like looking for a flower in the bottom of outhouses. The flowers DO exist, but one must "step in it" a lot prior to finding that blooming flower.

I too am a full-time professional Notary Signing Agent. I too pride myself on being the best that I can be. I made the mistake of training my next door neighbor to be a Signing Agent, and I am paying for it. Not only has she undercut me with companies I provided her with. She dresses in jeans and sneakers, carries her docs in her hand too and from signings. No briefcase, no folder , nothing.Smokes like a fiend. No business cards, puts absolutely nothing into the business.I had to fix several loans that she messed up and and found out she is mean to the borrowers. We have become total enemies. it kils me that I created this "Monster". Live and Learn... |

Would you rather have someone providing you with services who does it on nights and weekends or, would you rather have a dedicated, experienced professional that works for you 7 days a week?
This is how I began-as a weekend warrior. I was a full-time college student. I'd returned to school after a 25 year management career for the purpose of finding a new career path. High on the list of new careers was something that "I loved" and could be happy with. The Notary Signing Agent who signed my own refinance suggested that I work as a notary part-time while going to school. Most signings take an hour or two with travel and are scheduled evenings and weekends-perfect for a student. So I became a Notary Public. To make a long story short, it wasn't long before I was very busy...with school, studies and doing notary signings. I found that signings were very suited to all the things that I loved about work: driving, the freedom-making my own schedule and accepting work when I chose and interacting with many new and interesting people. My one true talent-having and exercising my people skills was finally usefull and in play. After three semesters as a straight "A" student working toward a journalism career, I became so busy with work that I found I had to make a choice. I chose to be a professional Notary signing agent.
With that choice, I felt a greater sense of responsibility to "be a professional Notary" by learning more and being as knowledgable as I could. I joined Professional organizations and increased insurance coverages. I became certified by several notary organizations as a loan signing agent and continued to grow my business. I opened an office, purchased the needed equipment and began a marketing effort in earnest. My client list quickly began to grow and soon my wife left her own 25 year career to join me. We were now truly self-employed. We became familiar with Loan Officers, Title and Escrow Officers and learned all we could about the signing business.
All along the way, we heard horror stories of botched signings by new or unprofessional notaries. We lost work to unskilled, less qualified notaries who, not understanding the nature of nor responsibilities of the business, were willing to work for less. The saturation of irresponsible, unprofessional and inexperienced notaries hurt not only the clients they work for, but also brought dishonor to an honorable profession. Their willingness to cut corners or "color outside the lines" by back-dating or accepting improper forms of identification from a signer defeats the entire purpose of the notary public commission.
I know that I sort of fell into this line of work, but I fell with every intention of building something for myself and my family that we can be proud of. We have built our business on professional ethical behavior and have not deviated from that for anyone or anything. We meet people in the industry all the time who want us to do things we can't. I want to associate with more of you out there who would never ask us to. If you need a Professional Notary Signing Agent in Southern California, give us a call or give us a "click".
