I'm with you, Shannon. The Midwest Notary Association, owned and operated by two experienced LSA's who are first-class, is top notch. They have a ton of resources, articles, a message board, chat rooms, and much more for a very fair price.

This husband and wife team work very hard to provide an outstanding site. Check it out at www.MWNA.net

I think American Society of Notaries is a far better choice than N.N.A.

I think this website was previously one of the best notary internet websites available but I haven't received many assignments from them in the last.
Websites I like:
1. 123notary.com (Duh)
2. notarydepot.com Joe is the master of the Internet search spiders
3. notaryclasses.com I teach students to pass our CA State Exam for this website.
4. gogetnotay.com Wonderful website Sharon is the brightest!

Groucho Marx once said that he wouldn’t belong to any club that would have him as a member….. Perhaps he knew of his own fallibility. I also believe he knew of the fallibility of that club.

As a notary, I’ve been looking for a place to belong. Somewhere where I was actually respected and where the membership believed in,.. well,… itself. I have not found that with the NNA as I now believe that they have abandoned me. Perhaps they abandoned me before I even joined. I do know, that they do have my membership money, they also want more from me and seem to give less with each passing day. I get the “junk mail” the “not-so-soft” sales pitch for everything from supplies to certifications to background checks to e-notarization gadgets and goodies that many local counties won’t even yet accept. They tell the world that a signing should cost $X with no discussion of time, effort, mileage and skyrocketing gas prices or taking into consideration all the intangibles like the NSA’s ability or the document signers level of understanding.

What about looking out for us?…helping us create demand for our services through the way legislation is made? Encouraging the use of our services v.s. giving us another service to pay for? How about looking to add prestige and honor to our profession instead of selling it on the cheap? We all want to make money. But that fact shouldn’t detract from the foundation of an organization which was launched in the interest of making notaries lives better. Profit is not in and of itself evil. But, when born on the backs of the members it is-by design-supposed to protect….does it make sense?

I believe I have found my answer in the Midwest Notary Association (MWNA) because it is the tip of the sword in a campaign for respect, dignity and greater, more thoughtful responses to the plight of highly motivated Notary Signing Agents. Each one of us can discuss the motivation of others in creating an organization. I want to align with a group whose purpose, ideas, and ethics most closely align with my own. I’m not against an organization that earns. Just against one that earns from me, and then turns on me.

Food for thought….I’ll see you around. And at: MWNA
