My first signing was so nervewrecking. Needless to say, I got through it. That was twelve years ago.

I'm revitalizing this very old post since it was so popular. Feel free to add opinions. This is from 2005 or 2006 originally.

I think that Therron's computer clock might need adjusting. If the date on the posting is correct < 2005 > their first signing was 17 months ago !!?

Hi Therron,

Congrat's on your first signing. I remember my first one and I was a nervous wreck. Try not to worry to much. My daughter on the other hand didn't have a worry at all. She said mom it isn't rocket science :). Make sure you call and confirm with your borrowers, the location, time, etc. Ask them if the have proper ID and ask them if is current. If you are receiving edoc's ask whoever has sent them 'if this is all'. You don't want to get to the signing and they are still sending things along. Always ask the companiy or individual who hired you if they have any special instructions that want followed and make sure you read the confirmation they have sent. Once at the signing always ~do what I call the hosuekeeping first. Meaning if your state requires you to keep a journal then get the ID'ing process out of the way first. Once you start signing pay close attention to all of the signature lines and initial lines. Make sure the sign as typed.(as a side note; some borrowers insist on their fancy little signatures so if this signature is on their ID and they refuse to sign as printed let them go ahead. We are not the sinature police) Do NOT leave until you have checked your work. I use to check it twice before I left. It will save you a unneccesay trip of having to go back.

Good Luck!

Let us know how it goes!

Carmen
