The best advice i can give to any new notary or closer is to educate yourself with as many loan products as possible... even getting a part time job as a loan officer to learn some programs.. all of the signing courses are great but look online for respa, hmda, reg z, title insurance law for your state and hit the bricks and market , market, market... find out the going price and dont settle for 50 and have to print out 200 pages for some of the online cos. do a yahoo search for title companies in your area and actuall drive there and introduce yourself and hand then some cashews or chocolate bars and your information.... good luck... |

No courses are necessary in my state. Fortunately for me, I learned a lot of what I know in college. I would strongly recommend that you take the 123notary test. It is very informative and gives you quite a bit of information to absorb before you take it. Jeremy provides this test at an affordable cost to you; and if you pass, he will certify you. Check it out.

I am new at this too and I took a notary class through the NNA which I found on the internet. They have a special class for Notary Signing Agents that is different from notary public class. The class tells you about documents for mortgage closings. My interet research has found that other companies are offering notary signing agent classes also, such as SignStat, which I just found. So apparently classes are available. BUT with just this class and signing up with title companies, I have not had success in making money as is "promised". The NNA offers a Certification class which is more like an "elite" class to teach you more about documents. It costs more and they market this to their title companies and other companies as their recommendation to choose their signing agents. It seems unfair to me that they teach you the basics in one class but only recommend those that have taken and paid for their Certification. I would be interested in hearing from others who have found the same situation.

I am a notary in my state and have been researching the internet trying to learn as much as possible about becoming a mobile notary/signing agent. I'm a little confused. Is there an actual course that needs to be taken to become a mobile notary/signing agen?
