Global warming seems to be accompanied by weird weather and other natural phenoninon. The soloman islands had a tsunami a few days ago. Imagine how something like that would effect our profession if a tsunami happened on the east coast somewhere. ouch. |

Carmen I have one in College too. But if you have two, you'd better stop chatting and get back to work |

That is just what my son and daughter say. One goes to UCLA and the other is at UC Santa Cruz. Most of them don't care to discuss it. Wonder why this is?

Funny as it sounds, half of my college professors will not even talk about global warming.

It seems to be a popular topic based on two responses within 24 hours. Hybrids are the way to go. I wish I had one but I want to use my 2004 car (which is a fairly efficient Toyota) a few more years and then trade in for a hybrid. By then there will be many more choices for hybrids. I think that global warming seems to have gotten "irrational" from a scientific point of view these days and I believe that forces from above are dictating the shots now. I think that nature takes turns giving different parts of the world unheard of weather conditions that makes no sense. Just my opinion. |

Surprised at those who buy into the Global Warming "religion"
For me it's simple economics....I had the option of purchasing a Hybrid version of my '06 Honda Civic for about 6K more than the standard version I bought. I considered carefully the pros and cons.... carpool advantage, MPG etc. Finally, based upon the mileage I drive, I couldn't justify the extra 6 grand because frankly, my car will be worn out long before I'd ever get to the "gravy" that that money would have purchased.
Even if it (GW) exists, there is no scientific proof that man has the ability to alter its course or its impact. Keep drinking that water and running your AC Jeremy...at least you will be cooler.
Now, hows that for sparking a thread? |

Wow, buddy - you're a brave soul!
My car choices are made with this consideration as ONE of the considerations. I'm on my 4th Focus SVT, a manual trans & exceptional MPG. I never 'warm-up' the car, never leave it idle for any reason or period of time, directly due to my 'global' awareness. I also am very conservative with the A/C. (I'd like to add that #3 is the reason I am here today, writing this - kudo's, thanks and blessings to Ford folks!) |

Maybe I shouldn't try to see how these two things influence each other. But if it makes for good conversation, why not? We use gas to go to our notary appointments. Driving creates pollution which increases global warming. Then we drive to our appointments on 100+ temperatures. Today was 95... very hot for March. If March is like this, what will July be like? Scary thought. It got me thinking about global warming. Needless to say I drank lots of water today. What do you think? |
