I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. On one signing the house was filled w/this dreaded smoke and, after asking the Borrower to open a window -- she quickly accommodated my request and the open window gave no relief, so we drove in our separate cars to a close by McDonald's! No problem! You just have to ask for what you need.

My briefcase has a little bottle of something I like to smell called 4711 Florida Water. I put a few drops in my nostrils when I am in a stenchy place. It helps. If it got to be too much, Id leave before I puke all over.

I had to leave one house once the stench was too much. I told them I was ill (not a lie) and had to leave. Sorry. Not putting up with that.

If there is heave cigarette smoke in the house, we're doing it outside. I don't need to smell like crap for the rest of the day. Been there, done this before.

Carmen claims that it is dangerous for your health to enter a really smelly house. The bacteria in the air could put you in the hospital. One notary actually was hospitalized after a visit to a house from hell. So, what do you do? After all, you don't want to be rude, right?

After Carmen's story several months ago on the blog
http://blog.123notary.com/?cat=52 (scroll please)

I am convinced that being polite should be the least of your concerns. You do not want to get vomit, or spend a long time in a hospital a few weeks after the fact because you inhaled toxic bacteria. So, what do you do?

If it were me, I would use my i-phone to find the nearest Starbucks and have the signing there, or just cancel and go home. As a signer, you have to have standards!
