Definition 1:
It is required in some states that journal entrees concerning notarizations of deeds affecting real property or Powers of Attorney have a thumbprint. Its generally prudent to take journal thumbprints for all signatures notarized simply because the thumbprint can not be forged and is the only completely reliable source of identification.
