Sanctions

Function: noun

If a notary violates the notary laws of their state, the notary commission can take sanctions against them. Normally, the notary could lose their commission and be subject to fines if their were sanctions against them. In some unusual situations involving fraud involving real property, a notary could be sent to prison. If a notary engages in misconduct, their notary commission can be suspended, revoked, or terminated.
