Oaths and Affirmations

Oaths and Affirmations are sworn statements that can be taken by a notary public. An Oath requires an solemnly made sworn statement that mentions god in it, while an affirmation omits any mentioning of a higher power. Many religious people don't like to mention god in any sworn oaths since certain religious texts indicate that it is wrong to do so.
