Flood Zone Notification

Definition 1:
This document called a flood zone notification would only be in a loan package if the lender determined that the property involved is located within a flood plain. If the property was in a flood plain, then the flood zone notification document would require a flood insurance policy to be in force for the life of the loan. A home buyer should find out whether their home is in a flood zone before they make their purchase. It is all too common for a home owner to find out if they were in a flood zone after a disasterous flood strikes. It is part of the appraiser's job to identify if a property is in a flood zone. The flood zone notification should include a warning that the property is within a flood zone, a description of the flood insurance requirements, a statement of what agencies flood insurance may be purchased from, and any other pertinent information.
