AttestPhonetics: at·test \a-'test\ Function: verb To attest to the fact that a statement is true is similar to swearing under oath that a statement is true. Infinitive: to attest Present Tense: attested Past Tense: attests Present Continuous: attesting Past Perfect: attested Definition 1: To affirm to be true, correct, or genuine; to corroborate. A document signer could attest to the fact that the contents of the document were true and correct. Definition 2: A handful of states have notaries Attest to signatures as one of their official notarial acts along with witnessing signatures. Definition 3: Although attesting and affirming are similar in meaning, the act of attesting is a considerably different notary act than taking an affimation. Definition 4: One of our definitions of the word "notarize" is to certify or attest to the validity of a signature on a document or to the validity of a copy of a document as a notary public.
