That is such a dignified and ethical thing for you to do. I would have done the same thing. You are a shining example of honesty even in this profession where we are the ones who tend to suffer in the end by not getting paid for our hard work.

Heres one for you. I was called by a company to do a signing and after clearing my schedule , the signing cancelled due to funding problems with the borrower. Not a big deal, things happens so I just wrote it off and told her if anything changed give me a call. Imagine my surprise when a month later I received a check in the mail for $100.00. I called the company and asked if this was my compensation for the loan cancelling (ha ha) She said oh-no we only pay if the signing cancels at the table (which I was well aware of) and the loan did close but she would have to check with her book keeper for a possible accounting error. Needless to say I never heard back from her. I've got the check with no intentions of cashing it and maybe i'll send it to her in a Christmas Card.
