A notary was asked for a copy of her E&O, a copy of her seal (illegal), SS#, copy of her drivers license, many forms, and more! How much is it reasonable for a signing company to ask for?
It is illegal for notaries to make a seal impression on a blank piece of paper. Signing companies don't seem to understand this. Jails often ask for a copy of the seal as well on a small piece of paper. If you say no, then you can't get into the jail to do your job. So, how do you get around this? You can send a copy of your commission to the signing company. Wouldn't that be enough proof that you are legitimate? Making a copy of your seal and crossing it out will nullify it's notarial significance, hence, making it less illegal.
Should you give your Social Security number away to a signing company? Do they have a right to it? They are paying you, after all, right?
How about a copy of your E&O, they really want to make sure you have it. You could be fibbing when you say you have 2,000,000 worth or E&O. You would not be the first to lie about it.
How about the request for a copy of your Driver License, and the endless forms.
The question here is where is enough enough?
