Be Available in More Ways
Give your potential clients many ways to contact you. Most companies expect a notary to be available by an office line, cell, e-mail, and fax--at a minimum. It is unnecessary to go overboard, but make sure that your clients know where they can reach you.
Answer your phone
This may sound obvious to most of us, but many notaries do not answer their phone as much as they should--they are missing their most important calls. Companies are in a huge hurry to dispatch jobs, and they will give them to the first competent notary who answers their phone. If you miss one call, you may miss the opportunity to pick up a regular client who would have, otherwise, recommended you to others.
