According to one of my scheduling strategies in the new NINJA marketing course, you should save space, time (or motion) in your schedule for your A list clients. Schedules tend to start booking up about FIVE days before the fact, and then it can get crazy the day before, especially during the last few days of the month.

My experience might be very different from yours, but maybe 10-20% of clients booked a few days ahead of time, especially if they had Fedex packages they were sending, and especially if the signing was not date sensitive. Then, there were regular mobile notary appointments with business people who scheduled ahead of time because they had packed schedules.

Two days before the closing I would get another 20% of my appointments.

One day before a particular date, I would get the majority of the signings (back in the days before e-documents were popular).

On the day itself, you will be happy if you left some OPEN TIME, because your best clients might need some last minute help. It never hurts to confirm with them before the fact to see if they MIGHT need some last minute help -- that way you can plan.

But, what if it is 2pm on Thursday, and you still didn't book up your time? Maybe it is time to do some last minute jobs with people who pay less -- that way you make SOME money, right?

When is the job?
Oh, its for 9pm tonight, it pays $70
I can only give low rates if the job is for now, because I am SAVING time in my schedule for my regular clients (who pay more)
Oh, well let's do it now, that way if your regulars need help tonight, you will be available.

Great!
