oh, and one more thing... this strategy might work.... (might...) in a very slow business environment with lots of free time on someone's hands.

bad start... I wouldn't do business with such a cheap company... time is money! and if the title company never calls back, it's a waste of time! Also, a title company with a good management will never expose themselves to the liability that could arise from unknown free service.

I am curious to know if they really do call for more signings soon. From the start, I thinks its a bad business model on their part. I think it might be reasonable for someone who is doing their first signing, but not for seasoned signers. I agree with Ken 101%. |

Update...went this morning. Package was very small from a local lender. It took me only about half an hour! Now I am familar with their office and they said they would be calling to set some closings with me in the next few days! YES! WORTH IT! |

This just totally happened to me! In fact I am doing the signing tomorrow and here is why... This TC has 2 offices that are 15 minutes from me and 2 that are 30 minutes from me. They are printing the documents and copies. All I have to do is show up to an office 15 minutes away. Most told me that I should turn it down, however, I figured if I am only out an hour of time for an early morning closing that I usually dont have anyway at that time, it would be a good idea. This TC also has 30 offices in my state. They have another closer sitting in with you to make sure you are doing things the way they want there company represented. So I am just looking at it has an hour of marketing time. |

How 'bout "You give me 19 at my regular fee in my immediate area in one month and the 20th is free!"???

A great concept. I'm going to the Shell station (where I never buy my gas) and tell them. I will ask for the first tankfull free; and if I like it they will have a new customer. An idea like that Title company has could spread far and wide. It should certainly not be limited to notaries. This idea can really help the economy!

I just read that there is a Title company that wants notaries to come to their office and do their first signing for free, so the Title folks can know for sure that the notary knows what they are doing.
The notaries responding to the post thought that they should not have to work for free. My opinion is that if the company has a really good reputation and pays well, it would be well worth it in the long run to offer them the first signing for free. A good long term client is worth $10,000+. Are you guys thinking about the long run? If you pass them up, then you will never see if they would become a long term client.
Another point is that the Title company might give you some free tips during the signing about what you could be doing better. No guarantees, but a possibility, and worth the risk!
