"...threatened to report me to NNA for contacting the title company. That scared me so bad, that I told her I wouldn't do it again if I received my check within a week"

I'm assuming (and hoping) you're kidding here...I'd be hard pressed not to laugh at the person who threatens to report me to NNA...:)

I liked your style, Paul. Low key, not belligerent or hostile, calmly letting title know what their SS is doing...

I normally do closing for large companies that I know and know me, so I do not worry much about collection. About 2 or 3 times a month I will receive a call from some new or unknown signing service. I save all of my confirmations in a file on my computer. After 60 days, if I have any outstanding invoices, I open the confirmation and send a reply politely telling them that I have not received payment. Sometimes they respond, sometimes not. If after I attempt a phone call I get rough.

I reply to the same confirmation but send it to the title company asking if the signing service has gone out of business or changed address, because I have not been paid. Usually they will forward the email to signing company and I get paid. Once there was a particularly slow paying company and I kept hounding the escrow agent and she continued to forward the emails. I finally sent her an email and appologized for pestering her so much. She emailed back that she knew what I was doing, that she no longer worked for that title company, but she was playing along.

I have two slow payers from February. One has replied and wanted a w9, the other I have asked if I should bill the title company. I expect them both to pay. Does anyone remember SOX? I collected from them that way. One of their crooks called and threatened to report me to NNA for contacting the title company. That scared me so bad, that I told her I wouldn't do it again if I received my check within a week.
