I need to get a new long distance service. My phone company wants to charge me 10 cents a minute since I use my phone for business. Who is the best company to use? Skype, Vonage, or something else?

I wonder why I even have a phone at my office/home? I have a fax number that I could use in an emergency. I think I need to cancel this phone line tomorrow as it is throwing money down a drain.

Do I need a fax number? Should I subscribe to www.myfax.com to send back faxes?

I was thinking of getting Vonage because I was tired of getting $70 phone bills with Verizon and I hardly used the landline. I did try Magic Jack and it seemed to be okay but there were things about it I didn't like and was unwilling to live with so I sent it back. I ended up getting a "bare bones" plan with Verizon that ends up being $22 a month which means I must pay 40 cents a minute to use it. I don't make any outgoing calls on the landline but unlike a cell, you can always get free incoming calls. I use my cell primarily. I have the $99 all inclusive cell phone plan with Sprint where anytime, anywhere, day or night I can call, with unlimited texting and unlimited internet included in the $99.

After reading the reviews about Vonage, I don't plan on getting it after all.

I've had Vonage for about a year. I get alot of beeps during the phone conversations, I also get pauses during the conversations and find myself asking the client to repeat themselves. It also drops my internet connection. When I called their technical support and they told me it was a problem with my internet provider.

After several calls back and forth between Vonage and my internet provider we discovered that the problem was with Vonage. They really took action when I called and said "Cancel my Service!" The service worked okay for about a week and went back to the same problem. I'm in the process of porting over my vonage number to AT&T since this is the number I have been publishing and giving out to my clients.

So I'm not happy with Vonage. As for the fax service, it works when it wants to.

I have looked at Magic Jack and they do not have Idaho yet in their list. I would get this service if they had Idaho.

We have had vonage for two years. Just added the fax line, so far, no problems.

I have had vonage for about two years. You can not count on vonage for faxing. I can only fax a max of 8-9 pages at a time. I'm thinking of switching to magic jack for $30 a year. My friend in WA has been testing the magic jack out and he says he has no problems faxing like he did with Voip. Check it out...http://www.magicjack.com/1/index.asp

I am looking to switch my landline to something cheaper. At the same time I will also have to use the fax service. I was looking into vonage for my home phone and use the fax for my notary business. I use my cell phone for my notary business phone.

Hello. Why are you asking about Vonage? I have experience with a similar company, but the service is for a specific type of property. Let me know what you are hoping to do with Vonage, and maybe I can help you. Thank you.
