Though I rarely receive on-line requests, I thought my notary pals would get a chuckle from this "lead" site...they actually wanted me to pay to communicate with this lead:

Hello,
I have family court on [insert date]. Per my attorney I need to have my childcare provide write a statement however she's spanish speaking only. Therefore I'll need to have her declaration translated from spanish to english. My childcare provider is an illegal therefore she doesn't have any identification.

Frustrated because my response could not be sent, I'm posting here what I would have said:

Sounds like you need either a paralegal or an attorney. As a Notary Public, I am precluded by law from offering advice or preparing documents as I am not qualified to do so. You may be able to produce items on your own via a self-help website site. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need items notarized once they are prepared. All signers must present Valid government -issued Photo ID for the purpose of notarization and NO California Notary Public can lawfully notarize without being provided with satisfactory evidence.
Best wishes.

Now ask me what I WISH I could have said!

I think that the lady who is here illegally might have a passport or credible witnesses. If the declaration is simple, can't they just write it in English, and hand a dictionary over to the babysitter?

Also Shannon, don't underestimate the price of paper. Some of that resume stock paper costs a pretty penny. There are fewer and fewer trees out there too. Although paper grows on trees, the price of trees is going up!
