I am sitting at my computer waiting for documents for a 1pm signing. It is 12:40.
I received a call from the SS asking if I have flexibility as the documents are not ready yet.
This is the 3rd reschedule with this one from B of A.
I told the company that I committed to this time and turned down other signings, therefore, I charge a late fee of $15.00 for this signing.
Although they were SHOCKED and said that they never heard of this, they agreed to pay me my late fee.
I also have the duty to contact the borrower and hope that she too has flexibility. The lender should be doing this, but I agreed to contact the borrower.

Isn't our time worth something? Why should we (and the borrower IE CUSTOMER) be inconvenienced when the bank cannot get the documents out on time?
We are penalized for everything. It is time for us to stand up for the value of our time and service!
I just did and they sent a confirmation including my late fee. If we all start to request this, perhaps the banks and SS will respect our time!

Good for you! A late fee should be expected. You may want to make it $15 per every half hour late. We do have schedules to keep and late docs interfere with other appts.

Good for you! That's a great idea. I'm sitting here at 11:30 and waiting for my 11am docs that never came. Too late now for me to say anything as I told them i'd be here all day...el stupido I am.
