Posted - 08/27/2014 : 5:34:03 PM Hello, I was just wondering if there is any special circumstances for signing documents on an Indian reservation? Is the venue just like normal: your state and county or do they have something different when it is sovereign Indian land? Do they have to use their own notary in their colony or is it just like a normal notarization? |

Posted - 08/31/2014 : 5:05:20 PM Most Indian Reservations are considered Sovereign Nations or separate nations from the US. They have their own government and police force. You should check with your state agency that oversees the Notary Public to determine if you can notarize a document on the reservation. If the person leaves the reservation and meets you just outside, you should be OK. There was a discussion about this on Notary Rotary a couple of years ago.
