When you quote a vendor a price and he lied about the details of the job. What is the best way to protect myself for the next signings?

First, when the job turns into something considerably different than what was told to you (provided you asked all the right questions--and even if you didn't--but try to ask every time), it's renegotiation time. Note that sometimes they really don't know the pkg size--and it turns out to be a monster. Just call or e-mail stating the facts and tell them fee needs to be increased to $whatever or you'll be giving it back (as there is no point in doing a job at a loss).
There are variables and you need to ask about things like pkg size, faxbacks, what do they pay for no/show/sign/RTC used.
I always have a mapping program open & just ask for actual signing address...couple keystrokes and...bam...you've got the mileage and drive time, too. None of this 'as the crow flies' nonsense they often try.
By the way, you are the Vendor.
If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will. |
