If you are an Alabama Notary Public, check your mailbox for a letter from the Secretary of State office. I received an invitation in the mail today to attend the first Notary Public Conference on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 pm in Montgomery, at the State Capitol Bldg. The letter was mailed to all active notaries in AL.
The purpose of the Conference is (and I'm quoting from Beth Chapman's(SOS) letter is to obtain valuable education. She writes "State and national speakers will share with [notaries] the specifics required ...and other valuable information that will assist you in being the very best notary you can be".
It has been very difficult for Alabama Notaries to get answers regarding Notary Law. This is why I am looking forward to this conference. It's free. I view it as a small step in the right direction.
If you are looking for specific information regarding the Conference, call the Secretary of State Office/Notary Division. I am checking into group travel from Huntsville, Alabama. If you have questions about that let me know.

I really wish they would offer video-/tele-conferencing for this conference. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts prevent me from attending.
I believe the SOS would have a better response if we could connect through*****or telephone. |
