Countrywide Financial Corporation has admitted that it fabricated documents supposedly sent to a homeowner involved in a bankruptcy case in Pennsylvania. According to court documents, Countrywide recreated three letters that claimed the borrower owed the company almost $5,000 for escrow deduction discrepancies. Countrywide maintains that it is not their policy to recreate documents for purposes of evidence and the future discovery will show that the borrower had received the documents.
