Sandy thinks she's an attorney. Just called to have a document notarized...she goes way beyond her capability as a notary. It's valid signatures you're notarizing, lady. Leave the legal stuff to an attorney! lyn thomas on 18/04/2014 12:22:26 PM Notary's responses: Ms. Thomas called me yesterday. She was very vague about who she was and what she really wanted me to do. I have been a notary for over 5 years and have not had one complaint from anyone. I had to keep asking Ms. Thomas exactly what it was she wanted me to notarize, who she was, from a signing company or an individual. I explained to her in the beginning that I really did not feel comfortable doing what she was asking because I really did not understand fully who she was or what she wanted me to do. To get a better understanding as to what she wanted me to notarize when she did not accept I did not feel comfortable, I asked her what it was she wanted me to notarize and what relationship she was to this individual and also if all parties were to be present. She said all parties would be present. She told me it was a bank form (this was an out of state call - not sure about the bank), that the grandmother wanted to give her money to her granddaughter. The grandmother is in a nursing home. I have been to a nursing home before on a reverse MTG and the nursing home administrator pretty much attacked me and this was for a signing company. All I said was that once someone was in a nursing home I DID NOT THINK that someone could give away their money legally. I did not say that I knew this for a fact. I once again said I did not feel comfortable in getting in the middle of what could become a possible situation later. I apologize if she thought I was out of line. I felt she was trying to get me to notarize something without really telling me what it was, who she was, exactly what the situation was. If my having to ask questions to try and figure out what she really wanted me to notarize came across as rude I am so sorry. I in no way was trying to tell her the law. I was also trying to protect myself. When I told her I could not do this SHE HUNG UP ON ME and did not call back. Once again I do apologize if she thinks I was out of line because in no way was I trying to be. I in good conscience can not notarize something I do not feel comfortable doing and I did not feel comfortable doing what she was asking me to do.
