Mr. Chance was 10 minutes early and was very organized and efficient. During the signing, Mr. Chance noticed a couple of minor errors my wife and I had made in dating the documents. Mr. Chance politely and diplomatically asked us to make the corrections, which we did. Mr. Chance was professional, polite and got us through the signing in just a few minutes. We appreciated his efforts on our behalf . A job well done!

Mr. Chance arrived on time, but was immediately rude. My husband and I cheerfully greeted him and invited him to sit at the table we use for school, which is about five feet long. Mr. Chance looked at the table in a disgusted sort of way and I offered the dining room table instead. At that point, Mr. Chance stated that would probably be a better option since my husband and I did not have on masks; he stated this very rudely. At this time, I said, "Would you like us to put on masks?" and he agreed in a rude tone and directed us to sit at the end of our table, while he sat at the other end. Mr. Chance slid over a CD with his card and I asked if he had a paper document since we do not have a disc driver. He asked, rudely again, if we had a computer. I told him we had laptops without the drivers. He offered up a thumb drive and my husband said he would find another way to print out the documents. Without speaking and without explaining any of the documents, he handed us papers to sign. Mr. Chance was unprepared and none of the papers were tabbed for signatures.

My husband used a blue pen he had placed on the table and I used my black pen. At the end of signing the multiple refinance papers, Mr. Chance looked up and asked if he had placed two blue pens on the table. I said he had, but I used my pen. He hit his papers with his palms and said the signatures had to be in blue ink. He was visibly angry and frustrated and looked at his watch. Since I have a very simple signature, I told him I could trace over my black signature. He proceeded to hand me papers and slam his papers around while I was signing. After resigning the documents, which took less than five minutes, Mr. Chance silently started collecting up his blue pens and papers. I finally asked him if we were done and he said, "Yes." Mr. Chance is very unprofessional in his demeanor and took no responsibility for the lack of preparation or failing to notice the ink color. I have never in my professional life been told I could not use black ink on a legal document. I am a registered nurse and have bought two homes. I have never been treated so rudely by someone offering a service in my own home.

Notary's responses:
To the contrary, on a VA cold and frosty morning at 8AM, I was greeted by Mrs Cassidy as though I was the plague as she pointed too a very small table cluttered with her children’s school work. I mentioned that the table was small and we could not keep a safe distance. She briskly took me in the kitchen where her kids were playing/eating. I explained we would have to make small table work after it was cleared. Prior to all of this, she did ask if they should wear masks, to which I replied, thank you. Not in a rude manner at all.

I did apologize for not catching the blue pen as we went through the docs to make corrections. She was throwing papers in my direction. Mr Cassidy had his pen.

I don’t know but Mrs Cassidy had an irate attitude before, during and after the completion of the signing.

During a busy pre Holliday week , I have been complimented for jobs well done and I meet an attitude/bias not of my making? I was not comfortable at all.
