Be Professional
Present yourself as a professional, amiable, and knowledgeable business owner. If you make a good first impression, you will gain new customers by word of mouth alone. If you know all of the common notary procedures, know your way around your county and neighborhood areas, and know how to manage customers, you are marketable. If you are weak in these areas, you are likely to drive customers away. Many notaries do not know how to do jail or hospital notarizations. Those can become a new source of income if you do your homework. Many notaries know loan signing, but are not as proficient as they could be. Being the best at what you do is what gets you hired, and good notaries are easier to remember.
