Become a Nebraska notary public
To apply for a Nebraska notary commission you must not have any felony convictions or convictions
of crimes involving fraud or dishonesty. The term of office is four years. There is a $30.00
state filing fee. You are required to use an inked notary seal and it is recommended, but not
required that you have a notary journal. You must pass a test given by the Secretary of State as

Other information
Nebraska notaries may not notarize for parents or grandparents, but may notarize for aunts and
uncles. Your notary commission's expiration date must appear on your Nebraska notary seal. If
you need to change your name in the middle of a notary commission, you must apply for a completely
new commission.
