Become a Minnesota notary public
In addition to submitting a Minnesota notary application, you can also apply for e-notarization authority.
There is a $40 application fee for applying to be a Minnesota notary, and you apply for a notary commision
by mail. Registering your commission with you county costs $100. If your address changes during the time
you are commissioned as a notayr public, you may change your commission address record online with a unique
username and password. Your commission paperwork may be printed online. However, your commission
certificate will also be sent by U.S. mail. If you have changed your name, you must submit a notification
of the change to the Secretary of State within 30 days.
To become a Minnesota notary public, you must be at least eighteen years of age and be a resident of
Minnesota, or from a county in Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin that borders on Minnesota.
