Louisiana Notary Fees, Application, and Commission Information Louisiana Notary Search Louisiana Notary Fees There is no statutory authority regulating fees for notaries Become a Louisiana Notary Public An applicant may fill out a Louisiana notary "Application Qualify" which requires the applicant to attest to good moral character and be registered to vote in the Parish they are applying in. They must be a citizen or resident alien of the state. Next, the applicant may apply to take the Louisiana notary exam by filling out the examination registration form. The two application forms must be submitted at least sixty days prior to taking the Louisiana notary examination. An oath of office is required. An official signature, a $10,000 Louisiana notary bond or Errors and Omissions insurance, and a $35 commission filing fee is required. Applicants must pass the state notary examination unless they are a licensed attorney in Louisiana. The exam is given twice a year on the first Saturday in June and December only. You must fill out an examination registration form before taking the exam. You must submit this at least forty-five days prior to the exam. Forms can be filed by mail, email, or fax. No course is required for you to take the Louisiana notary examination. However, it's a good idea to take a course or participate in a study group.
