ID-Notary Public Mobile Fee
In addition to the $2.00 fee, a notary public may be compensated for actual and reasonable expense of travel to a place where a notarial act is to be performed.

An employer shall not require a notary public in his employment to surrender to him a fee, if charged, or any part thereof. An employer may, however, preclude the notary public from charging a fee for a notarial act performed in the scope of his employment.

Bizarre Rules
The state of Idaho allows notaries to use any color of ink they like on their stamp so long as it will fax, copy and scan clearly. Another bizarre rule is that the state of Idaho allows the notary to charge what their actual travel expenses are. That makes it impossible to legally make any type of living as a mobile notary. However, I have never heard of the authorities enforcing this rule. It is common for notaries in Couer D'alene to be dual commissioned in Washington State as well. Spokane is a large metro and a notary can get double the business if they are willing to work in two states and drive slightly further. There are many dual commissioned notaries on the Idaho Washington border.
