A NV Notary Public may charge $10.00 per hour as a travel fee from 6am to 7am.

A NV Notary Public may charge $25.00 per hour as a travel fee from 7am to 6am.

Additional Notary Public Information of Interest

Mandatory Training for Notary Public Appointment
The following persons will be required to complete a 4 hours notary public education class conducted by the Nevada Secretary of State's Notary Division (pursuant to AB 533, passed by the 2007 Legislature):

• Anyone applying to be a notary public for the first time;
• Anyone renewing their appointment as a notary public, if their appointment as a notary public has expired for a period greater then 1 year; or
• Anyone renewing an appointment as a notary public, who, if during preceding 4 years has been fined for failing to comply with a statute or regulation of the State of Nevada

Nevada requires notaries to record the type of document they are notarizing in their journal. The purpose of this is so the document can be identified after the fact more easily should there ever be an investigation. Our recommendation is to also indicate a document date in your journal which could be a date inscribed in the document. You need to record the type of notarization such as an Acknowledgment, Jurat, or Oath as well since the procedures are different.

Many documents have similar and ambiguous names like, "Affidavit". If you notarize thirty affidavits for the same person all with a one-word document name, its very difficult to tell them apart without additional descriptions of some sort or notes taken in your journal.

Taking Acknowledgments
The signer must be positively identified for the notary to take an Acknowledged signature. The signer may sign before appearing before the notary public.

Dual State Notary Commission Information
If you are an Arizona notary who is employed in Nevada, you may apply for a Nevada notary commission. You will need a Non-resident Notary Public Affidavit, and your employer will need to complete the Affidavit of Applicant's Employer. Also, if you are an Oregon notary, Idaho notary, or Utah notary, please ask the Nevada notary division if you can apply for a Nevada notary commission.

If you are a non-Nevada resident and want to become a notary in Nevada, you must be employed in Nevada and submit two affidavits. One is the non-resident notary public affidavit. The other must be completed by your employer which is the affidavit of applicant's employer. If you are self employed, then you can choose the affidavit of self-employer applicant form. You must also furnish a copy of a Nevada state business license from the company where you are employed.
