Journal of notarial acts basic info.
Not all states require the notary to keep a notary journal.
The notary journal and seal are the exclusive property of the notary
Nobody may see or use the a particular notary's journal or seal other than the notary
Journals and seals must be kept under lock and key.
Journals and seals may not be misused otherwise there could be a criminal penalty.
Journals are books that are bound and sequential. Pages can not be added or removed.
Journal entries must be in sequential order and putting false dates on entries not okay.

The public or an employer may request to see a particular journal entry which effects their business or dealings.

What to record in a journal:
date and time of the notarization
document date and type
name and address of signer
ID type, serial #, and expiration date of signer
Signature of signer
Thumbprint
Notary fee charged
