Which type of notarization is common for each type of document?
It is up to the client to decide what type of notarization to use, and the notary may NOT make recommendations as that is legal advice. However, affidavits normally use a Jurat notary certificate, while Deeds have always used an acknolwedgment certificate in my experience. Any document that requires a sworn oath normally uses a Jurat. However, once in a while you could get a request for a hybrid notarization involving a Jurat and an Acknowledgment. Jurats require oaths, while Acknowledgments require identification.
